4-Blade Steel Impeller | 118.605 | Repl. CURRENT OEM PLASTIC 3-Blade AM138205 & Agrimetal 99-50-0055 | Repl. for John Deere 47" & 54" Snow Blowers
Vendor:Push Industries
• NOTICE: This is purchased only if your blower originally came with the plastic 3-blade impeller OEM AM138205, typically found on roughly 2012-and-newer units
• Heavy-duty all-metal 4-blade steel impeller eliminates cracking and failure of the OEM plastic impeller and delivers noticeably smoother operation and more consistent snow discharge
Adds nearly 7 pounds of rotational mass compared to the factory impeller to help maintain power through dense, wet, and icy snow without bogging down
Tighter running clearances increase snow velocity and throw distance for a significant real-world performance improvement
Only fits blowers with the 6-bolt service-plate gearbox used with the plastic OEM impeller; does not fit Spanish-made one-piece fully cast gearboxes
NOTICE for chain-and-sprocket blowers: The auger and impeller assembly will only slide out the front after backside disassembly, which requires removing the chain guard, chain, sprocket, bearing retainer collar, and bearing
If you are unsure whether you need 118.605 or 118.606, email photos of your impeller and the drive mechanism on the backside of the blower to sales@pushinds.com and we will verify before purchase
The Push Industries 118.605 All-Metal 4-Blade Impeller is a performance and durability upgrade for John Deere 47 and 54 front-mount snow blowers that were originally equipped with the plastic OEM impeller AM138205. The plastic design is a known weak point and often cracks where the metal hub meets the molded plastic blades, leading to mid-storm breakdowns and costly downtime. This upgraded impeller was developed specifically to eliminate that failure and dramatically boost blower performance.
This upgrade is only purchased if your snow blower originally came with the plastic 3-blade impeller. These blowers are most commonly found from roughly 2012 and newer and can be identified visually by their black molded plastic blades and the separate blower fan plate M161175 located between the impeller and the hex shaft. Machines that originally came with the steel 3-blade impeller require Push Industries 118.606 instead. Many machines have been serviced or modified, so identifying the impeller currently installed is more reliable than using year alone.
Tighter clearances in the housing and the 4-blade design provide smoother operation, better breakup of heavy snow, and a more aggressive discharge stream. The impeller weighs nearly seven pounds more than the original plastic part, adding rotational mass that helps the blower stay loaded and continue moving snow instead of slowing down in hard-packed conditions. Most customers report immediate improvements in throwing distance and the ability to maintain blower speed through deep or icy snow.
The 118.605 mounts directly to the 6-bolt service-plate gearbox used with the OEM plastic impeller. It does not fit the Spanish-made one-piece cast gearboxes that do not have a service plate.
Important installation note for users with the exposed chain-and-sprocket drive system (not the later parallel oil-bath chain box): The auger and impeller assembly will only slide out the front after servicing the backside of the blower. The backside requires removal of the chain guard, chain, sprocket, bearing retainer collar, and bearing to allow the auger/impeller assembly to come out of the front housing.
If you are unsure which impeller you need, email photos of your impeller and the drive mechanism on the backside of the blower near the drive shaft to sales@pushinds.com and we will confirm the correct part before purchase.
Upgrading to the 118.605 provides immediate performance improvements, eliminates the risk of plastic blade failure, and delivers the long-term durability the machine should have come with from the factory.
