The Push Industries 118.688 Upgraded Billet Gearbox Cover is engineered as a heavy duty replacement for the OEM AUC13965 stamped steel cover used on 47 inch and 54 inch front mount snow blowers for John Deere. The original cover is a thin piece of stamped steel with corners that extend beyond the gear case. When the snowblower encounters ice, packed snow, or debris, those exposed corners are easily struck and can bend inward. Once bent, the OEM cover can distort the sealing surface or begin to seep at the gasket area.

This billet aluminum replacement eliminates those weaknesses. Each cover is CNC machined from solid 6061 T6 billet aluminum with side walls approximately 0.80 inch thick. While the OEM cover can bend from a debris strike, the billet version would require bending nearly an inch of solid aluminum, which simply will not happen under normal use. The Push Industries cover also features a compact footprint that does not protrude past the gearbox housing, greatly reducing exposure to impact.

To improve maintenance, the design incorporates two threaded service plugs. The center plug is used for oil filling and level checks, while a second plug at the bottom of the cover makes seasonal oil changes simple, clean, and fast. This feature eliminates the mess and hassle of draining through the gearbox opening or removing the entire cover.
